It seems that hype is killing some of this stuff for me.

And it's not like I go in with an attitude like "so you think you're funny huh? Well, I'll be the judge."

My wife agreed with me, if that means anything.

But I know I'm in the minority on this thing and I've taken several lumps for my opinion on and off this blog. I still think the premise is brilliant and like I said, it's a fun movie.PIPERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13054305230216613759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-907928872183762741.post-70271278655034002272009-06-27T00:33:06.996-07:002009-06-27T00:33:06.996-07:00Damnit Piper...will you see the next one of these ...Damnit Piper...will you see the next one of these watercooler movies BEFORE the hype goes and ruins it for you? Again, I thought he was much funnier in Role Models.

Moviezzz,

I'm not a real Old School fan either. But I need to see that again before I truly weigh in on it. But Starsky and Hutch is basic comedy. It's not like he's a comedic genius. And contrary to what your friend says, a directors reputation is absolutely a reason to go or not go to a film. But obviously that friend doesn't think about it as much as you do. Or I do.PIPERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13054305230216613759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-907928872183762741.post-24919772369288050872009-06-21T17:53:34.755-07:002009-06-21T17:53:34.755-07:00Joseph,

I recently saw Role Models and that is a very funny movie. I thought this might be more of the same. But for all its strangeness (Tiger in the bathroom, Tyson in the room) it seemed very mainstream to me.

And you make a good point about the photos at the end. I didn't really think about that until you brought it up. What I hated was the set-up to it. It was so... set-up. The guy saying that he found the camera and that they were going to look at the photos and then delete them.

I guess I didn't need to the see the photos. It was just the photos that made me laugh the hardest.PIPERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13054305230216613759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-907928872183762741.post-38740242650131315882009-06-21T14:19:29.200-07:002009-06-21T14:19:29.200-07:00Just today, someone said to me "So, what did ...Just today, someone said to me "So, what did you think of THE HANGOVER?"

"Uh, I didn't see it."

"Why not? The opening scene- the cell phone call from the side of the road- was very well done and sets up some pretty tasty, dark humor...possibly, Then it all goes for the obvious. And I guess I'm one of the few who thought the movie would've been a lot better if they HADN'T shown the closing credit photos and left us hanging onto our imagination. Then again, I guess I can't expect cerebral art-house characteristics to a mainstream comedy!Joe Bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10160822944514723178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-907928872183762741.post-91866434548423082472009-06-21T10:05:30.913-07:002009-06-21T10:05:30.913-07:00I liked it, my favorite parts were the car ride in...I liked it, my favorite parts were the car ride into Vegas, the speech on the roof, and then of course the photos at the end.
