Good to see you're staying true to your musical roots.

    Matthew,

Good question on who should have won.

    Orson Wells for Citizen Kane

    Rossen for The Hustler

Pakula for All The Presidents Men

Scorsese for Raging Bull and Goodfellas

  4. Oh, I don't think I'm embracing Musical Theater roots. Truth is, West Side story is timeless, still holds up and is vital and energetic. Really altered the medium while holding true to its roots.
Cabaret is as much a testament to the cinematographer. Truly a musical OF it's rebellious times and every shot is a picture. Gorgeous and moving.

Who should have won? Alan Pakula for All The President's Men. The most exciting movie that is ALL talking heads.

    F. W. Murnau - The Last Laugh
    Paul Verhoeven - Black Book
    Michelangelo Antonioni - The Passenger
Elaine May - A New Leaf

  6. I should have said that these are MY choices, not the Academy's.
