Top 5 Tuesdays (T5T) Gets Shitfaced!

First things first. It seems that the old Top 5 Tuesdays is now an award winning weekly feature. I just received a LAMMY at the first ever annual awards show just a few days ago for Best Running Feature. So if you were hoping this little baby might go away, think again. I'm going to ride its award winning coattails for a long time. Thanks to everyone who voted for it.

To celebrate, let's raise a couple (or five) to the best drunks in movies.

Acting drunk doesn't seem like it would be that hard. Stumble around, slur your words, maybe get in a fight and then piss yourself. No problem. There are some who do it justice in movies and then there's John Cusack in The Sure Thing (worst drunk ever!). We've gathered today to honor those who make it seem so real you'd swear they were really drunk. And maybe they were.

Give me your Top 5 Best Drunks in movies. Here are mine.

1. Bluto Blutarsky (John Belushi) in Animal House "Christ. Seven years of college down the drain. Might as well join the fucking Peace Corps."

2. Arthur Bach (Dudley Moore) in Arthur "Where's the other half of this moose?"

3. Terry Ann Wolfmeyer (Joan Allen) in The Upside Of Anger "Yeah, what the hell. I'm going after the mother of the year award."

4. Bob & Doug McKenzie (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) in Strange Brew "If I didn't have puke breath, I'd kiss you."

5. Gary Wallace (Anthony Michael Hall) in Weird Science "Well, my nuts are halfway up my ass, but other than that, I'm perfect!"

  2. I can only think of two-

    *Frank the Tank- Old School
*All the gremlins-(the bar scene from Gremlins 1) Love it.

  3. Gary Wallace made that bit of drunkeness gold with the voice that went with it.

  4. Nic Cage in Leaving...

Just kidding. As we all know, I hate Nic Cage, even if he was ok in that flick.

How about the Dude (if he counts)? Or Randy Quaid in Independence Day (haha)? Or Billy Bob in Bad Santa? Or Bruce Willis in The Last Boy Scout?

  5. A random selection...Likely not the best, but some that amuse me or are simply really well done.

    - Jack Lemmon in "The Apartment"
    - Barney in "The Simpsons Movie"
    - The waiter in "The Party"
    - William Holden and Peter Finch at the start of "Network"
    - Richard E Grant in "Withnail And I"
    - Kevin Kline in "The Ice Storm"
    - William H Macy in "Magnolia"
    - Kate Winslet in "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind"
    - Will Farrell in "Anchorman"
    - Michael Cera in "Superbad"

  6. I've got a top 2...

Cary Grant in North by Northwest:
"These two men, they poured a whole bottle of bourbon into me. No, they didn't give me a chaser."

Oceans Eleven (the original) - I am almost certain the entire rat pack was drunk throughout filming. At least we are certain Dean Martin was...

  7. I love Scotch. Scotch. Scotch. Scotch.

    Annie Ha,

Cary Grant driving down the mountain completely in the bag. Love it.

  8. 5- Any western or performance by Elisha Cook, especially "Salem's Lot".
4- David Starithern in "My Blueberry Nights".. he better get a supporting nom this year, but highly doubtful.
3- Dwight Yoakem in "Sling Blade".. the way he slurs "i'm sorry... i'm sorry.. i love your mother" and then the boy yells back "well I hate you" for Dwight to follow-up with "well i HATE you too! no.. no I don't" if that isn't the epitome of a drunk, I don't know what is.
2- there's a movie I loved as a kid where different frat houses and sororities had to complete a scavenger hunt (wearing different colored sweaters??) and one of the frat guys jumps into a vat of Pabts blue ribbon beer at the brewery. I loved that guy.
1- The doctor in "Cannonball Run". Best. Drunk. Ever.

  9. This is a hard one for me...

Immediately I think of Ray Milland in *The Lose Weekend*, but then I think his performance is kinda overrated so that doesn't really count.

    Let's see:

I got it! Gary in *Team America: World Police*!

  10. Gary from Team America is perfect. Forgot about him. Best puke scene too.

  11. Teri Garr in Let it Ride.

"I am drinking gin and flicking cigarette ashes on the floor."

  12. P.S. Congrats on the award, Piper!

  13. A twofer... Micky Rourke and Faye Dunaway in BarFly

    ... to all my friends!

  14. The best drunk scenes for me are those in City Lights. When the rich guy is drunk, he's Charlie Chaplin's best friend; when he's not, he has no idea who Chaplin is. The running drunk plot makes for some of the best comedy I've ever seen.

  15. Lops are one of the top damage classes of dofus kamas, without need of huge buffing. I know vitality is very tempting in kamas, you get after level 100 every time you level. You may be feeling intelligence in cheap kamas. You are going to be getting crab pincers which like dofus gold, depending on which server you are on. buy dofus kamas can help you get a high level in short time.
