Here comes the new year. And with a new year, a chance for a new you. Wash away the past and cake on the new.
This Tuesday, let's celebrate the movies that celebrate another chance. Here are mine in no particular order.

1. Carlito's Way Carlito gets out of the joint and pledges to stay away from drugs and violence. Only they keep finding him.
2. Postcard's From The Edge Who knew rehab could be so much fun?
3. Hard To Kill If I had Kelly LeBrock waiting for me, I'd come back from the dead too.
4. RoboCop Thanks to OCP, Murphy has a second chance at getting the bad guy.
5. The Royal Tenenbaums Royal attempts to reunite with his family that's falling apart.
Good call with "RoboCop," since it actually features a brief New Year's party from Robo's POV.
ReplyDeleteHere's my second chance faves:
1. The Straight Story -- Old dude on a lawnmower, last chance to make amends with his brother.
2. The Best of Times -- One more shot at winning the big game.
3. Point Blank -- Lee Marvin has one last chance to get his money back.
4. Almost an Angel -- Paul Hogan has a chance to make right.
5. Dead Heat -- Treat Williams dies, but thanks to 80s technology, comes back to life and puts on lipstick.
God Bless You Adam,
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to get in a Dead Heat mention before the end of the year and you've delivered.
Grease. At the end. Danny was willing to start over as a school jock and Sandy was willing to start over as the school vamp.
ReplyDeleteSchool tramp is more like it. It's the hottest Newton John has ever looked.
ReplyDeleteVertigo and Regarding Henry.
ReplyDeleteLes Miserables is my favorite story about second chances, but it's yet to be turned into a solid adaptation.
def check it out! it's a downloadable Wii-Ware title!
ReplyDeleteI love your creative association with New Years! Second chance movies - brillant.
ReplyDeleteThanks The Fraze, I will indeed do that.
ReplyDeleteShannon. Thanks for the props. But no list?
I honestly can't think of any films about second chances... not really one of my things to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little harsh like that.. you mess up and out with you! :)
However, JCVD fits the bill in a rather meta way.
Happy New Year!
