Top 5 Tuesdays (T5T) Off The Top Of Your Head
Here are mine in no particular order
1. Brick I just saw a poster for The Brother's Bloom and I wondered if it will be as good as Brick because that was a fine movie.
2. High Fidelity Always a favorite, any time of the week.
3. Rachel Getting Married Still my favorite movie of last year.
4. Get Shorty The kind of fun-loving, double-crossing movie I was hoping Duplicity might have been.
5. Fright Night My recent rash of vampire movies has me longing for it.

Well because I just read your list the five movies I'm thinking of are the five movies on your list. Thanks Piper. Thanks for nothing!
No, seriously, all jokes aside, thanks.
For nothing!
I suppose the last 5 movies I saw: Gang of Four, The Exterminating Angel, The Furies, Anything Else, Daisy Kenyon.
Duplicity would be in there somewhere, but I've already more or less forgotten it.
1. Mystic River- it was on last night before going to bed
2. Role Models- just watched it this weekend..really like it
3. Talladega Nights- thinking about crepes this morning and how they're similar to pancakes
4. Watchmen- want to see this
5. Milk- want to see this too.
Greg F,
So who are you really? I thought I knew you... but then this.
So if you think what I think then think me up some pancakes and some sausage links with warm syrup because I'm hungry.
Ed,
Yeah, Duplicity was a disappointment to me. And it showed much promise. Especially the opening slo-motion scene between Giamatti and Wilkinson.
Garrett,
I've actually heard and read lots of good things about Role Models. I'm going to check it out soon.
I made the pancakes and sausage but they're here and you're there. Thanks again. For nothing!
Ha, ha. I'm just kidding. Seriously. No more jokes. From the bottom of my heart, thanks.
For nothing!
Let The Right One In, Burn After Reading, Milk, Ikiru, Animal House
Because... well, I'm scatterbrained right now.
I'm thinking of the last five movies I recorded - all of which are still sitting in my DVR queue:
Wild Boys of the Road, Dans Paris, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, Buffalo Bill and the Indians, and Youth Without Youth.
Five films, on my mind.. hmm..
1. Twilight
- revisiting the DVD, researching for upcoming project
2. Let the Right One In
- heard the DVD release has different subtitles, want to race home to see what mine has
3. Dog Soldiers
- really really really hoping this is the next film that comes through my zip.ca (aka Canada netflix) queue
4. Harry Potter
- mind on another upcoming project
5. Pontypool
- co-worker is seeing it tonight, jealous! I wanna see it again.
Wow, that was way harder than I thought it would be! I tried not to out think myself there!
Greg,
You thought too hard. My pancakes are soft in the middle and the sausages... wait... are these even sausages?
And there's a whole lot more nothin' where that nothin' came from.
filmchris,
Just saw Let The Right One In. It was good stuff, but I'm more of a traditional vampire kind of guy. But it was an interesting story.
Pat,
McCabe and Mrs. Miller is on my short list to see. Have you seen Youth Without Youth?
Shannon,
Dog Soldiers is good, fun, stuff.
5. Last Action Hero
4. The Jerk
3. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
2. From Dusk Till Dawn
1. Lady in the Water
These were all less than $6 at Best Buy yesterday, so they went from being un-owned to owned (in the good way, not the geek way).
If I need to justify myself, Lady in the Water was only $4.
Marc,
If I had a "Congratulations, that's the most random top 5 list I've ever seen" award, you would win it.
1) Pitch Black is always the first movie I think of when anyone asks me to list movies.
2) I just watched Hard Boiled, so that.
3)Once Upon a Time in China, because I ordered it and now Amazon says my order has been delayed by 2 weeks so I'm gonna cancel it and go to Best Buy.
4) Defiance, because I tried to watch it the other night but fell asleep and now I'm wondering if it's worth finishing. I do adore Liev Schriber.
5) Sex, Lies and Videotape, because I started reading Down and Dirty Pictures this morning and that book makes a big deal out of Sex, lies and its impact on the state of independent film so I guess I should finally see it but I don't want to see it because it sounds boring.
Random assortment of films that are on deck, recently viewed or I just read something about:
1. The Last Winter - Larry Fessenden's environmental horror flick - been on deck for awhile and is ythe next thing I'm going to watch (though I won't get to it tonight). Given to me by Shannon actually! Don't think it's on the top of her head though since I just happened to be closer than the garbage can I believe...B-)
2. Four Times That Night - Mario Bava's sex comedy murder mystery. Silly, juvenile and occasionally stupid, but also really great to look at and kinda fun.
3. Ocean's Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen - Just watched Soderberg's "trilogy" again recently. The last one has issues, but I love 'em all.
4. Ju-On: The Grudge - Re-watched this great J-horror film again for the upteenth time as well. Love the atmosphere it builds.
5. Let The Right One In - What Shannon said...I heard about the subtitle errors and I'm not sure if my copy has them or not. I'll be pissed if they do.
By the way Piper, if you need some stock tips, I know this guy 'xw' I can set you up with...B-)
Go watch The Last Winter Bob! I'm so curious to hear what you think ;)
My copy of Let the Right One In is the 'other' subtitles I checked earlier this evening. I didn't notice it when I watched it though, I only saw it 1x in the theatre.
I decided to wait and post the first 5 movies I saw advertised on my drive home. Here you go:
Quantum of Solace (Bring Bond home!)
Fast & Furious (April 4!)
I Love You Man (bus stop poster)
The Pink Panther 2 (billboard in East L.A. Been there since Feb)
That movie that is not Mall Cop
Observe & Report.
Bizarre serendipidious timing on those 2 films, eh?
Bob,
How'd you know about XM?
That damn spam haunted me yesterday. I had to switch up a bunch of shit to make sure they would stop. I seriously got about 50 comments to random posts.
I need to read the mess-up with Let The Right One In. I have the DVD, but watched it dubbed because I was watching on a small screen... and... well, I'm lazy.
Piper, I had subscribed to comments on previous posts of yours, so I saw a good 10-11 of those xw posts show up on old threads (so I figured you had a whole bunch more as well).
Spammers are douchebags. Though I guess I'm not saying anything new here...
'Watchmen' because I saw it last night and was sooo disappointed. Pumped now though, because... just read that one of my FAV films is airing on Wed 4/1, 9pm est: 'Rock Fresh' - Danny Lee's docu about graffiti artists. LEGIT. see for yourself. http://ovationtv.com/ and there's a live chat with D.Lee too - just have to signup. uber easy: http://www.ovationtv.com/community/Home/
