Top 5 Tuesdays (T5T) Loves A Rainy Day

I don't know where you live, but where I live there's been a lot of rain. A lot. I mean - water in the basement where you've never seen water come in before - kind of rain. And I've tried everything. Weird dancing to appease the Gods. I've offered up my oldest child as a sacrifice. I've yelled at the sky. I've attempted to erect a small invisible dome over my house that holds out the rain but that birds can safely pass through. Nothing is working. It's still raining. A lot. But ultimately, what can I do? It's out of my hands. And you know what they say, if you can't beat them... make some hay. No wait. That's not it. If the glass is half full... shame on me. Shit, what was it again? Fool me once... and then something about an early bird. Damn. Oh well, you know what I'm saying. Hopefully.

So this Tuesday, give me your Top 5 Rainy Day movies. Movies that if it's cold and wet on the outside make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Here are mine in no particular order. Note: I won't attempt to justify any of these selections because honestly, I don't know why I like them on rainy days. I just do.

1. Goonies

2. All The President's Men

3. Jaws

4. Paint Your Wagon

5. North By Northwest

There's been a lot of rain here lately, too - I feel your pain.

I can't think of five right now, but my go-to, bad weather, "comfort" film is "Four Weddings and a Funeral."

Bird Flu

Romancing The Stone is a great one. I would have put that on my list had I remembered it. It's got a lot of rain in it.

Pat,

Four Weddings and a Funeral is also a good one.

It seems that the movies that either appear gloomy, or have pivotal scenes in the rain are good rain movies

Hey, if you look at the 2nd and 3rd comment names it says "Pat" "Piper". Cool.

I can't think of any right now, but they would probably involve something from the seventies or the thirties, my two favorite film decades. And Jaws is one of the most re-watchable movies ever made.

I often see Pat's comments and I think, when did I comment to myself?

And then I think "oh yeah, Pat from Doodad" and then I look up into the sky and I kind of put my hand on my face and I laugh to myself. This whole process usually takes a few minutes.

I was really thinking that more people had rainy day films. Imagine how embarrassed I am (looking up into the sky and putting my hand on my face and laughing to myself).

Just like I always watch The Thing when I get snowed in, I like water in my rain day movies.

1. The Shawshank Redemption
2. The Abyss
3. The Road to Perdition
4. Jurassic Park
5. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Salaaaaami,

I could watch Jurassic Park about any time of day. Any time of year. It's a very watchable film.

Rain? What's that?

Yea, I live in Phoenix. I don't get enough rainy days to have a list of rainy day films, I'm afraid. Maybe I can think of a list of 120 Degree Day Films...
