DePalma Wins Best Director

Brian DePalma took best director at the Venice Film Festival as well as the Digital Award for his film Redacted. He had some interesting thoughts on awards: "Prizes are always great because it helps your film to be seen. But critics and prizes just tell you what the fashion of the day is. We don't make movies to get prizes."

Thanks to De Palma a la Mod for the link.

Amen, Brian!!!

I just wish, with all of the talent that DePalma has, that he would have used it more extensively over the years to do more with film than ape the films of others.

Never been a big De Palma fan. Couple of good bits in his career, though. Personally I thought Scarface stunk.

I'm happy for him but Redacted sounds strangely familiar. I think I saw it when it was called Casualties Of War.
