Top 5 Tuesdays (T5T) Loves The Ford

Indy is back and it's good to see him even if we have to speak a little louder this time. I kid, I kid. Indiana Jones is just one of the great characters Harrison Ford has played. And just one good performance among many.

So give me your Top 5 Harrison Ford performances. Here are mine.

1. Allie Fox
Mosquito Coast

2. Rick Deckard
Blade Runner

3. Colonel Lucas
Apocalypse Now

4. Han Solo
The Empire Strikes Back

5. Tommy Lillard
The Frisco Kid

Piper, you must be feeling contrary or something. Rick Deckard over his performance as Indy in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK? Are you trying to make a joke?

After those...I can't get the line "Get off my plane" from Air Force One out of my head.

I watched Blade Runner and I wanted to be able to say I liked it...but I couldnt get into it. There goes my cool points.

I think he's sexy in Working Girl, and I also liked his intensity in Frantic. And what about The Fugitive??!!

I agree with Megan and Marylin on *Frantic*. I think he's great in it.

*Blade Runner*
&

Ray,

I only did that so that you would comment.

Nah, I just thought I would mix it up a bit.

The truth is, Ford doesn't show a whole bunch of range in his roles. Kind of quiet and disinterested in a lot of stuff. Presumed Innocent, Blade Runner, Witness, The Fugitive, etc.

It's in his more comedic roles that he shows something. And in Mosquito Coast.

And Marilyn, I really did enjoy him in Working Girl. That role seemed a little out of the ordinary for him. Not as cock-sure as he usually is, which was a nice change.

And yet, there's no mention of Regarding Henry????? Jeez.

I'll mention Regarding Henry, Piper. I love Ford's work in that film (even if the film itself is just okay).

These aren't really my favorite Ford performances (though I do like them) but I'll list them anyway just to be different:

-Sabrina: Better than Bogie's Linus Larrabee from the original at any rate.
-Air Force One: I'd vote for him.
-Random Hearts: Again, not a great film by any means, but a rather dark, conflicted character for Ford. Interesting to watch.
-The Conversation: a young Ford as a shady bad guy (probably just a minion of the real villainois mastermind, whom we never see)

And then, of course, there is his appearance in the "Star Wars Holiday Special." Truly some of his finest work ever.

I came to mention Regarding Henry. I see I was beaten to the punch.

Damian,

I really, really, really liked the Sabrina remake and felt exactly as you do in regards to the Ford/Bogart performance.

And really everyone, I was kidding about Regarding Henry.
